A few years ago I had the desire to do multiple exposures (it may have derived from my long-held idea to do collage portraits) and it began with the idea of doing portraits of various artists I know. I have also done a number of self-portraits in many different environments. The results have been mixed: ghoulish, insightful, provocative… All of the multiple exposures in this gallery are done with slide film, in camera and generally 10-12 images per frame. I like the idea that it removes a lot of the control I am used to having when making ‘straight’ images and maybe it is allowing my intuition to stay ‘tuned in’ and alert. I have now expanded the experiment to include subjects beyond people and I will see where it leads me.
